Patience is virtue as it was only 2 years until Justine Triet's Oscar winning ANATOMY OF A FALL took the Palme D'Or last year. In 2019, Mati Diop was the first black female filmmaker to ever be included in the competition, winning the Grand Prix for ATLANTICS (but missing out on the Palme Do'r). Will true parity ever come to Cannes?
