Research on popular LLMs suggests nearly 53% of agentic commerce would be conducted in USD-denominated stablecoins when given the choice. Bit2 was built with that in mind. The faster a payment confirms, the faster an agent moves on. Credit cards take 1–7 seconds. Internet round-trip latency is under 200ms. BIG: Union Bridge is now live on Rootstock Testnet. Built on @bitvmx, it replaces trusted intermediaries with cryptographic enforcement. Withdrawals verified and challenged directly on Bitcoin. No fixed signers. No committees. "The point isn't that Union Bridge is invulnerable. It's that the attacks that have historically destroyed bridges, the majority trust failures, are no longer on the table," says @SDLerner, Co-founder and Scientific Advisor, @RootstockLabs. Machines exchanging value continuously need settlement in milliseconds. Payment channels are built for exactly that. So we built them directly on top of Bit2. Our latest article on Bit2 design is out! This time, we focus on the importance of verifiable payment proofs. In human commerce, a payment is complete when both parties agree. In agentic commerce, machines, smart contracts, and autonomous systems need to verify payment outcomes independently without asking anyone, without callbacks, without trust assumptions. A payment that can't be proven to a third party isn't a primitive you can build automation on. Bit2 produces globally verifiable, non-interactive payment proofs. Senders can prove a receiver accepted. Receivers can prove a specific invoice was paid. Any third party can verify, no interaction required. Whether a payment is worth making depends on what it costs to make it. fairgate.io/post/43-bit2-and… In agentic commerce, milliseconds of compute, microservice calls, sensor data, energy usage, fees that seem small at human scale become structural barriers at machine scale. Most systems tie transaction costs to two things: locked liquidity or L1 bandwidth. Both get expensive under volume. Bit2 decouples from both. Thousands of transactions share a single L1 commitment. In agentic commerce, payments are continuous, parallel, and machine-generated. fairgate.io/post/42-bit2-sca… A network that congests under load makes entire categories of economic activity unviable. Microtransactions, API calls, sensor data, energy coordination. All of it breaks if throughput fails. Bit2 approaches scalability differently: No routing liquidity, no centralized sequencer, no per-transaction proof requirement in the common case. Execution is local, time-stamping is parallelizable, and throughput scales without competing for shared resources. Most payment systems assume your wallet is always online, always watching. fairgate.io/post/41-agentic-… Hardware wallets exist precisely because keys should be able to stay offline for weeks, months, years. These two models coexist in tension. Bit2 resolves it. Client-side validation removes time-critical dependencies entirely. No monitoring requirements, no reaction windows.
