Massachusetts voted Yes on Question 1 in 2022, creating an additional tax of 4% for income over $1 million, in addition to the existing 5% flat-rate income tax, and dedicate revenue to education and transportation purposes.

Today, the Fair Share Amendment is making it easier to go to college.
If youāre eligible for a Pell Grant, you now also qualify for tuition- and fee-free education at a MA community college, public university, or UMass.
One third of all UMass students qualify for free tuition.

Thatās because of a $62 million expansion in financial aid for students at public collegesāand that $62 million is directly raised by the Fair Share Amendmentās 4% tax on income over $1M per year.

The ultra-rich pay 4% more on income over $1 million. We put billions of dollars directly into education and transportation. In 2023, the Fair Share Amendment raised over $1 BILLION.

We have had a constitutional flat tax for > 100 years. There have been five past times to change that, and each failed.
