God is still greater than even the most beautiful churches. It’s something I kept in mind in Rome, and as I continued into France and Switzerland. We can and should appreciate the beauty, and the divine inspiration. But Heaven will be much greater.

There is so much to see in Rome that you need to be strategic. I visited the Lateran Palace and Basilica first thing in the morning, so hardly anyone was there. I tried to take in the experience as much as I could. Mass was underway in one of the chapels #pilgrimage #catholic

I didn’t realize that the Bishops of Pakistan arrived at St. Paul Outside the Walls at the same time I did. I wanted to visit the tomb of St. Paul as a way to begin this pilgrimage remembering one of the greatest writers, and his complex journey. #Catholic #pilgrimage #rome

It’s a powerful place, grand and inspiring, but also pensive. The space to honor the first martyr St. Stephen recalled Paul’s persecution of Christians before his conversion.

Part way through my visit the Bishops Conference of Pakistan began celebrating Mass, in English. They offered a special intention for writers, and prayed at St. Paul’s tomb afterward.
I’m thankful to have the Sacraments with me early on this trip. I’m open to God’s direction.

I arrived in Rome, greeted by Jesus. Mass was already in progress at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul on Via Ostiense, with the Blessed Sacrament available. I’m thankful to have begun this pilgrimage this way.

Easter is a time that my family explores our faith in different contexts. This year we found Mass in Swahili and French in Milwaukee. The community of Holy Family parish was incredibly kind, and their music was a joyful alleluia. I also prayed at Marquette University. #Catholic
