One thing that my main NES assembler, ASM6 lacked compared to other assemblers is a segment usage for how much data my ROM takes, so I wrote a bash script that does that. #gamedev

Today I've received this toy made by local Aussie "BennVenn" called the "Joey Jr.", it's a dumper for various #GameBoy platforms can dump or flash cartridge data, pictures from the Game Boy Camera and most importantly: Save RAM.

I haven't tested out dumping GBA carts or any of the flashing portions, but in terms of what my intentions are with it, it does a good job. I wish it came with a USB-C cable though, I had to use one from my phone charger to connect it.

I was able to preserve all my saves that still have good batteries and wrote a status report on it, a box that I can finally tick off and sigh in relief.
I might even have an incentive to go back and play them since I can now backup and restore save data.

I've rinsed the shell with some warm water and dried it with a bristle toothpick, then gently applied a bit of methylated spirits to the PCB and rubbed it with paper as advised from the members of SMSPower.

The movement pad is still a little too sensitive when holding up and left, but otherwise it works pretty decently when testing a couple games onto it.

The right and 1/Start buttons on the default controller doesn't work properly and the RF video at best shows off some flickering dots, I'll see whether I or someone from SMSPower can help fixing these issues in the next couple days.
