Rhoda Jones is the Youngest Child on record (pending validation) to cycle from Land’s End to John o’Groats - 4 years, 4 months. Her time of 22 days, 3 hours, 26 minutes was narrowly beaten by big sister Ruth (5) who’s the fastest by trailerbike. Thank You to all who supported us.

Yes @20splentyforus ! It is absolutely NOT "just outside the school gates" where children walking to/from school are endangered !
For children walking or cycling to school, "outside the school" is the least dangerous part of their journey. Children need 20mph limit protection on the whole of their home to school route. 20mph "just outside schools" contemptuously disregards duty of care on child mobility 20splenty.org/school_gate_ri… 20splenty.org/school_gate_ri…

A new study of London’s Cycle Superhighways found that segregated routes increase cycling without raising collision risk, whereas non-segregated routes raise collision rates without boosting cycling. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

More on this, tomorrow…
“I’m pretty tired, think I’ll go home now…” Thanks to everyone who has supported this trip! Looking forward to the next one… #LEJoG @LEJOGAssoc

Nine years ago, @thomas_ivor and his first bikepacking setup featured at @DaveCorn’s ‘Yestival’ - as he closes in on his target, 15 days after he left Land’s End, solo and self-supported, here’s a reminder of where he came from, on his cycling journey… youtu.be/wnzGQjyjc0w?si=WBz1…

Day 15 of #LEJoG and @thomas_ivor is still going North, after a dash across Orkney last night. Nobody offer him a lift to the Faeroes, please - coming home via Hirtshals 🇩🇰 and Hook of Holland 🇳🇱 to Harwich would be a fitting conclusion but he’s due back at VIth Form next week!
Shetland is foggy this morning…

Our Wahoo Bolts (we’ve 4!) are patched. It came out yesterday; this email came at 0700 today. Wahoo haven’t tweeted for 3 days; that was about their CEO. Feels like a coverup of sorts. Why not ‘We’ve had a problem, we’re really sorry, we’ve patched it, please update firmware’?

Thomas Ivor is closing in on Thurso. Game on for the next plot twist - he isn’t going to JoG just yet 🤣
Much dot-watching, today. I have no pictures to share for now, he’ll tell the tale later, but suffice to say Thomas Ivor has pulled Oban - Tobermory - Mallaig, then Mallaig - Skye - North Uist - Berneray, then Berneray -Leverburgh - Stornoway - Ullapool - Almost Lairg, in 3 days.

His phone’s started playing up, probably due to water ingress, so @thomas_ivor is suffering on the bike tonight, in acoustic mode. Without the confidence of seeing the gradient profile and mileage to go. Thanks a bundle, @wahoofitness for continuing to leave users in the lurch!

Attempting to do the software patch on Ruth’s @wahoofitness Bolt v1 has caused it to crash. It’s stuck on the ‘Wi-Fi connected’ [Dismiss] screen and won’t respond to any button pushes. Severely testing my patience now. We’ve paid for this problem, for almost a week.

Thomas Ivor has made it from Land’s End to Oban, via Dublin, Belfast and Arran, on his less-than-conventional route - and he’s not done with the island-hopping, yet…
Days 9 and 10 - train back to Troon to pick up my route. Ferry to Arran and I decided to take the route West from Brodick, to reach the campsite at Lochranza where we stayed in 2022. Straight on the way next morning, over to Kintyre and up to Oban.

Has anyone ever managed to hitch a lift with a bike on the freight ferry from Stornoway to Ullapool? I think there used to be an overnight sailing?

Wondering how >£20 per night for a single person with a 1 man tent and a bicycle to camp, became so prevalent, and why this isn’t re-starting a conversation about what happened to the organisations (some charitable) which were meant to make travel affordable for youngsters.

It’s not a fix, but DC Rainmaker has the news, and better information, before the manufacturer! Looks like Wahoo have dropped the ball technologically, and compounded it with a poor (initially no!) response to customers… #RegretReasonRemedy
Owners of the Wahoo BOLT V1/ROAM V1/ELEMNT V1 are having a bad day. The units are resetting back to Jan 2006, and as a result, making the units unusuable outside due to GPS time-sync issues. Here's what you need to know: dcrainmaker.com/2025/08/waho…

Wahoo still flaky this morning. I’d be less cross if @wahoofitness had ‘fessed up and warned people. I’m sure they have plenty of T&C cover but if it’s known that there’s a problem, say so. Thinking the device was dead, I ordered a Bolt v3 yesterday. Cancelled now, on principle.

Thomas Ivor’s Wahoo Elemnt Bolt v1 seems to have conked out - we’ve tried all sorts of things. He’s using his phone for now but if it comes to replacement, I was due a new one and might loan it to him via an Amazon locker - but is the Bolt v3 worth the money?
My Elemnt Bolt decided not to get up this morning. Thought the device might be full, but even a factory reset has failed to get the GPS functioning again, it’s making stuff up, and the battery has plummeted as I’ve been fiddling with it. Firmware is up to date. Any ideas?

I’d not hurried to make a purchase because @dcrainmakerblog had raised some concerns about stability and battery life…
