As a person in ML, I’ve used GPUs quite a bit and always had the curiosity to understand how they actually work. I’d often see people on my TL doing CUDA programming, talking about kernels and stuff, and I honestly had no clue what they meant.
So I finally decided to try to learn a thing or two about GPUs by going through some sections from GPU glossary by @modal (only the parts I felt were enough for now - I didn’t want to spend too much time going down this rabbit hole since I have other stuff to attend to as well).
Finally I think I have some understanding about GPUs and their working. Still a long way to go, but good enough for now I guess.
The GPU Glossary is an excellent resource, but as a beginner it did feel a bit overwhelming/dense at times. I ended up making notes of the concepts I studied, along with some intuitions. I’ll drop them in the comments.
