Mr. JEREMIAH NYARIBO from
#UPAMONGO in Kisii County, Kenya, recently supported local farmers by registering them on FarmHawk, mapping their farms, and generating Farm Health Analysis reports powered by satellite intelligence and
#AI.
One such farmer is James (some information is masked to respect their privacy).
Why does this digital identity matter?
Across the Global South, millions of smallholder farmers remain financially invisible. Without a formal credit history or verifiable farm records, many are unable to access affordable agricultural financing from banks or NBFCs ; even when they are productive and hardworking farmers.
As a result, they are often forced to depend on informal lending systems (read as loan sharks) with interest rates ranging from 24% to 36% per annum, affecting both profitability and long-term sustainability.
At FarmHawk, we believe meaningful transformation begins at the grassroots.
Our effort is simple yet deeply impactful.
We are on a mission to help smallholder farmers gradually build a trusted digital and financial identity through verified farm records, geo-mapped land data, and blockchain-backed transparency.
The farmer identity records generated through FarmHawk are anchored on the Polygon Labs mainnet, creating transparent and verifiable proof systems that can support future access to finance, sustainability programs, traceability, and climate-linked opportunities.
Sometimes, the most impactful innovations are the simplest ones.
Our mission remains focused on making affordable, inclusive, and sustainable technology accessible to the remaining 70% of unbanked farmers across the Global South.
We will continue sharing more sustainable stories from the ground every week.
Have a meaningful weekend ahead.
