You don't always need to "borrow" or regroup when subtracting mixed numbers. You can add or subtract the same number from both numbers so you're subtracting a whole number to make it easier.

Things you miss about UKS2 teaching
Multiplying fractions by integers can be a tricky concept to understand but this really helped children understand the structure to these types of questions.

The review report on Shanghai maths points to a different teacher climate and culture. We are keen to import their practices but no so much what lies behind it.
