Americans see you as a black African first before Christianity. Arabs see you as a black African first before Islam. But Mutiu from Iwo said he’s Muslim first before being a Yoruba man.

How to file a police complaint and get a case number in Nigeria without a lawyer. The exact steps most Nigerians don’t know. Before You Go Write everything down. Dates. Names. Locations. What happened. Bring evidence. Screenshots. Photos. Medical reports. Witnesses. Prepared people are harder to dismiss. Step 1 — Go To The Right Station Report at the police station in the division where the crime happened. Under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 police are legally obligated to receive every complaint brought to them. Turning you away is a violation of the law. Not an option. Step 2 — Ask For The Duty Officer Specifically Walk to the counter. Say clearly — “I am here to make a formal complaint. I need it recorded in the Crime Diary.” Those exact words signal that you know your rights. Watch how the energy shifts immediately. Step 3 — Make Your Statement State the facts clearly. No emotion. No exaggeration. Sign your statement. Request a copy immediately. Under the ACJA — you are legally entitled to a copy of your own statement. Step 4 — Demand Your Case Number Ask directly — “What is my case number?” Write it down. Photograph it. That number is proof your complaint legally exists. Without it — you were never there. Step 5 — If They Demand Money Stay calm. Ask for the officer’s name and badge number. Write it down where they can see you. Then report to: Police Service Commission — psc.gov.ng National Human Rights Commission — nihrcommission.gov.ng Commissioner of Police of your state One report with a name and badge number moves mountains. Under Section 4 of the Police Act 2020 receiving your complaint is not a favour. It is their legal duty. You are not begging. You are exercising a right. © Damian Dondo

The telecom cartel is bleeding Nigerians dry. The company now known as Most Terrible Network (@MTNNG) sits at the top of this exploitation pyramid, stealing, robbing, and extorting millions of Nigerian subscribers daily. But they’re not alone. @AirtelNigeria. @GloWorld. @9mobileNG. All complicit. All are feeding off Nigerians with impunity. Dropped calls. Vanishing data. Phantom charges. The agencies supervising are also complicit, no consequences. Enough is enough. This is not poor service; it is organized exploitation. #OCCUPYMTN NOW Reclaim your digital rights.

“NO LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER HAS THE POWER TO ACT AS PROSECUTOR, JUDGE, AND EXECUTIONER” The Nigerian Bar Association is disturbed by the viral video showing the extrajudicial killing of a suspect by police officers in Delta State, as well as the subsequent confirmation by the Police Public Relations Officer that those involved will be tried for murder. This is an arbitrary, unprovoked and misguided show of power by a law enforcement agent. Not only did the act clearly show that the policeman took the law into his hands but portrayed the Nigerian Police Force in a bad light. The sordid act once more put under the spotlight the unceasing allegations I that law policemen routinely violate the rights of criminal suspects and even innocent persons. The NBA unequivocally condemns this act. No officer of the law, regardless of rank or circumstance, has the right to act as prosecutor, judge, and executioner. The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is clear that every person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction. Regrettably, many law enforcement and executive functionaries fail to abide by the terms of the laws which set them up as well as regulate their actions, but this is not always the case. They continue to act in manner which must not be encouraged in all decent societies. Some of such actions are usually unconstitutional, illegal and unlawful infringement on the right of individualsIf such unlawful actions by the security agencies continue unchecked, fundamental rights of people may not amount to much in such a climate of impunity. No society should allow such action to go unpunished. The gravity of the offence captured in that video strikes at the very heart of our humanity, the rule of law, and the constitutional guarantees of the right to life and dignity of the human person. It is s worrisome that in this 21st century, a policeman will summarily execute an alleged robber in a devil-may-care attitude. More worrisome is the fact that the summary execution was carried out in full public glare in grave violation of laws regulating the treatment of a criminal suspect or alleged thief. While we commend the Police for condemning and arresting the main perpetrator, but this is not enough. The viral video clearly shows that other policemen aided or were involved in this heinous act. The investigation, arrest and prosecution process must extend to any other officer may have counselled aided or abetted the extra-judicial killing as they all will be jointly liable for the heinous act. We therefore call for the immediate prosecution and trial of all officers involved in this heinous act. Any attempt to shield, delay, or dilute accountability in this matter will further erode public confidence in law enforcement institutions and will be firmly resisted by the Bar. We demand that the prosecution be conducted with full transparency and urgency. The Nigerian people deserve to see that the law applies equally to all, including those entrusted with its enforcement. We hereby direct the Human Rights Committees of the NBA in Warri, Effurun and Udu in Delta State to continue to confront such matters as well as monitor the sequence of events to ensure that this matter is properly investigated and prosecuted. In furtherance of this, the NBA Human Rights Committee and Civil Liberties Committee are hereby directed to closely monitor allegations of violations of citizens rights in any other place, engage with relevant authorities, and take all necessary legal and institutional steps to ensure that justice is diligently pursued and ultimately served. We reiterate our strong deprecation of this unsavoury conduct. It must stop. We must rise to ensure this and similar recklessness acts, stop. The bad policemen in the Force must be shown the way out to avoid giving it a bad name.

The Nigeria Police Force leadership has ordered the dismissal and prosecution of officers involved in the extra judicial killing of Mr Mene Ogidi in Effurun. ASP Nuhu usman and others will be handed over to Judicial authority after rectification from the Police service commission.
FORCE LEADERSHIP ORDERS DISMISSAL,PROSECUTION OF OFFICERS INVOLVED IN EFFURUN SHOOTING The Nigeria Police Force hereby provides an update on the disciplinary actions taken following the fatal shooting incident of 26th April 2026 in Effurun, Delta State, which resulted in the death of Mr Mene Ogidi. Sequel to the earlier directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc( ), NPM, all officers connected to the incident were immediately withdrawn from the Delta State Command and transferred to Force Headquarters, Abuja, where they were subjected to expedited disciplinary proceedings. The Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC), alongside other internal disciplinary processes, has concluded its review. Findings established unequivocally that the principal officer, ASP Nuhu Usman, acted in gross violation of Force Order 237 and other extant regulations governing the use of firearms. His actions were unlawful, unprofessional, and a clear betrayal of the oath to protect life and uphold the law. Consequently, the FDC has recommended the immediate dismissal of ASP Nuhu Usman and other officers found culpable. The Inspector-General of Police has approved the recommendations and forwarded same to the Police Service Commission for ratification in line with due process. Upon completion of the administrative procedures, the affected officers will be handed over to the appropriate judicial authorities for prosecution for their roles in the extrajudicial shooting. The Inspector-General of Police reiterates, in the strongest terms, that the Nigeria Police Force maintains a zero-tolerance stance on extra-judicial actions and abuse of power. No uniform confers the right to take life outside the provisions of the law. Any officer who violates this fundamental principle will face the full weight of disciplinary and legal consequences. The IGP extends his deepest and most solemn condolences to the family of the deceased, Mr Mene Ogidi. He acknowledges the pain and loss suffered and assures the family that this tragic incident will not be treated lightly. The Force is fully committed to ensuring that justice is not only served but seen to be served, in a manner that reinforces public confidence and institutional accountability. Members of the public are urged to remain calm and law-abiding, as the Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its commitment to discipline, professionalism, and the protection of the rights and dignity of all citizens while ensuring accountability at all levels.
