You will be part of the day-to-day rhythm of the business, looking after livestock and the landscape appropriately, keeping things moving, and helping the team execute the jobs that matter. Youโ€™ll be guided through modern farming practices and be part of the team that keeps animals thriving and systems running. Some days will be routine and steady; other days will be full noise with livestock movements, joining, planning livestock reproduction calendars, lambing/calving preparation, shearing, and maintenance jobs that keep everything working the way it should. Daily livestock care, feed on offer, waters, stock movements, health monitoring, as well as grass budgeting. โ‡๏ธ Involvement in ET and AI programs for both Kerin Wagyu and Kerin Poll Merino including preparation, handling, and support work around reproduction program days. โ‡๏ธ Involvement in shearing operations (pre/post shearing, general support). โ‡๏ธ Property maintenance, including fencing, yards, water systems and facility upkeep. โ‡๏ธ Record keeping of flock and herd genetics, health data, treatments, weights/notes as required. โ‡๏ธ Carrying out general farm maintenance tasks. โ‡๏ธ Helping the broader team at peak times, including seasonal workloads and livestock movements. โ‡๏ธ Competent and trained working dogs are an absolute must for this job. ๐—ช๐—›๐—ข ๐—ช๐—˜ ๐—”๐—ฅ๐—˜ Kerin Ag is based at Yeoval, in the Central West of NSW in a 650mm rainfall environment. Farming in a part of the world where seasons change, markets move, and the only constant is that we must keep resetting our sails to the wind. Since starting Kerin Ag in 2007, weโ€™ve grown the business by doing the basics skilfully, investing in people, backing great systems, and staying curious about how to turn pasture, fodder crops and rainfall into reliable cashflow. 4800ha, divided into 370 paddocks, all set up with cattle proof troughs fed by header tanks and bores. All livestock are rotationally grazed, they go to the right paddock at the right time for the right reason. The core of the business is seedstock, Kerin Poll Merino, Kerin Wagyu and a large-scale cattle trading enterprise, supported by an extensive pasture and fodder cropping program. We focus on matching stock rate to carrying capacity, managing risk, and making decisions based on facts rather than emotions and outside noise. That same thinking flows through how we run livestock, manage climate and work as a team. Weโ€™re serious about how this place looks and how it runs. Immaculate infrastructure, well-designed sheep and cattle yards, and well-maintained systems are a big part of how we operate. Great facilities make for safer handling, better stock flow, and better outcomes for both people and animals. Our management style is on time, ahead of time, ALL THE TIME. This is not a โ€œjust do the job and go homeโ€ operation. Itโ€™s a place where people are trusted, responsibility is real, and talented people are valued. We value people with the right attitude, a willingness to learn, and if you have a serious knack for attention to detail, good standards, and being part of a business that is built on performance, this role will suit you. Weโ€™re looking for someone who brings care, common sense and a strong morals and ethic. You take pride in doing jobs properly, you respect animals and the people you work with, and you understand that good stockmanship is not optional, itโ€™s the whole point. Youโ€™re practical, reliable, and willing to learn. You ask questions when you need to, you take feedback well, and you want to get better over time. Experience and skills with low stress stock handling is valued, and so is an interest in working dogs, genetics, animal performance and how the day-to-day work ties back to the bigger business outcomes. ๐—ฆ๐—ข ๐—›๐—˜๐—ฅ๐—˜โ€™๐—ฆ ๐—ง๐—›๐—˜ ๐——๐—˜๐—”๐—Ÿ: โœ… Base wage $100,000.00, Plus 12.5% super โœ… Plus a recently renovated 4 bedroom house, with a school bus stop at the front gate โœ… Plus electricity provided โœ… Plus 4 weeks annual leave โœ… Real responsibility, real variety, and the chance to grow into more responsibility over time We are based 13 km from Yeoval, in the Central West NSW. ๐Ÿ“ 70 km to Dubbo ๐Ÿ“ 80 km to Parkes and Orange ๐Ÿ“ 28 km to Wellington All with good services and schooling options. I absolutely loved this chat with Matt Hood
Not many people can talk succession, governance and banking for an hour and keep you hooked, but agribusiness banker Matt Hood does exactly that on this week's podcast with @Fergenetics. Grab a coffee and a notebook and settle in for "How to run a farm business your bank trusts".

Lamb wonโ€™t compete on price with white proteins, it needs to compete on experience. When you look at the maternal genetic trends for IMF itโ€™s concerning where the industry will end up.

Australian Merino ram breeders, the 2026 cull ram challenge is a crucial opportunity to benchmark your genetics for foot structure and resistance to ovine interdigital dermatitis (aka 'scald') and footrot. To enter, you need a team of at least eight cull rams from a single sire.

This week on the podcast, @Fergenetics shares his thoughts on the 25/26 ram sale season. This year, buyers are becoming more selective and data-driven (when data exists), and thereโ€™s also been a shift towards prioritising health traits. This, and more, on this week's episode.
