Agreed. Some schools have honors classes w everyone getting 95 to 100 mainly with completion grades. Grades should be a normal or bell curve, if the teacher is challenging everyone. Grade inflation is what parents and admin want, but a 95 with 95 average has no real value.
But we don’t make that clear in K-12 education. Instead, we largely leverage one-size-fits-all instructional models that force teachers to micro-manage the learning environment. It leads to a lot of coddling and “getting students across the finish.” 2/3
