Here's a new page telling the story of Edge Hill Cutting, arguably the datum point for Britain's passenger railway system.
The hope is that the site will be opened for public visits prior to the @LMRailway's 200th anniversary in 2030.
So much history here.

Living on borrowed time is this striking structure over the former Southport-Aintree line near Formby. @NationalHways intends to demolish and replace it.
How can we find large amounts of money for new structures, but not modest sums to properly maintain what we already have?
70 years ago today, QT was officially closed to freight traffic, bringing the curtain down on an operational life that lasted just 78 years.
The enterprise, ambition and sacrifice that went into its construction was no more reflected in Fifties decision-making than it is in 2026.
Given the structural issues at this bridge, doing nothing was not an option.
But pursuing a partial infilling scheme without considering the heritage impacts suggests regression towards the one-dimensional decision-making that caused @NationalHways so much trouble in 2021.
They're at it again.
@NationalHways decided to partially infill #LowAshyardBridge near Kilmarnock - completely burying the historic structure in hundreds of tonnes of stone and concrete - without consulting its Stakeholder Advisory Forum.
Heritage doesn't matter, apparently.
