Santo Domingo’s Unrealized Plantation Complex: A Prelude to Cuba’s Sugar Revolution, 1760–1795 | The Americas | Cambridge Core - cup.org/4cCYIXJ
My book is already available in digital form. You can read the chapter abstracts here: doi.org/10.1093/978019775508…. I would like to highlight chapter 7, which offers a new and counterintuitive explanation for the liberalization of the slave trade in 1789.
My latest book review.

My book has a cover. Excited to see the work of so many years coming together. Many thanks to @OxUniPress for all the work they've put into the project.

I just discovered that somebody recorded me playing atabales (Afro-Dominican drums) last year in Monte Plata, DR.

Hello historians!
Does anyone have access to David Murray's "The slave trade, slavery and Cuban independence"? doi.org/10.1080/014403999085…
I am not able to access it through my campus. Thanks in advance.
@jjponcevazquez@DrDanielleTW@FidelTavarez@DrJesseCromwell
I've been at the AGI for almost two weeks. The fact that we can now take unlimited pictures makes a really big difference. I will take home a large amount of documents for my second book project. For graduate students, this is also a game changer. Glad the AGI took this step!
Short video of me playing palos (Afro-Dominican music) during the 2024 fiestas patronales of Monte Plata, my mother's hometown. I play in NY, but it feels different when playing on the island.
