At 297 pounds, 9 ounces, this catfish missed 300 by less than a bag of ice. Attila Zsedely caught it in Italy's River Po in 2010, and it has spent the last 16 years making that everyone else's problem. Nobody has officially beaten it yet. Looking at the picture, you can see why. (Photo @TheIGFA)

This policeman's 113-pound flathead just shattered a state catfish record. Patrol Sgt. Joseph Driggers was fishing a 40-foot-deep back eddy on South Carolina's Pee Dee River when a giant flathead ate his Santee rig. After a 15-minute fight, Driggers landed the fish and South Carolina DNR biologists certified its weight at 113.7 pounds. The catch shattered the previous South Carolina flathead record of 84.6 pounds by nearly 30 pounds and is now the largest flathead catfish ever recorded in the state.

Bare hands and a willingness to get dragged around. After bluegills let him down yesterday, Josh Jones decided to fish the old-fashioned way. The result was a flathead pushing 60 pounds that took him for one hell of a ride before he finally got his hands locked around its jaw.

We got to spend a few days on Santee Cooper with Corey Heim before this news became official. Today, 23XI Racing announced that Heim will move to the NASCAR Cup Series full-time in 2027. From chasing big fish in South Carolina to NASCAR's biggest stage. Congrats, Corey. 🏁🎣

For the 8th year, a Memorial Day tradition started at a trout stream. At Patriots Cove, veterans, guides, local families, and members of the community gather each Memorial Day weekend for the Fish for the Fallen Tournament — a tradition built around time on the water and remembrance. Along the stream, memorial bricks carry the names of service members honored at the event each year. This Memorial Day weekend, eight names were remembered during a ceremony with full military honors: Nicole Gee, Kareem Nikoui, Ryan Knauss, Maxton Soviak, Declan Coady, Jeffery O’Brien, Ashley Pruitt, and Benjamin Pennington.

In 1955, Nevada hunter Clifton Fauria killed one of the biggest mule deer bucks ever recorded. The non-typical giant carried 46 scorable points, reportedly weighed nearly 300 pounds, and later scored 325 1/8 inches with Boone and Crockett Club. It still stands as the biggest mulie ever taken in Nevada.

Forty-one years ago, Richard Tate caught the biggest largemouth bass in Virginia history. In 1985, Tate pulled a 16-pound, 4-ounce giant out of the 77-acre Lake Conner in Halifax County — and the fish still stands as the Virginia state-record largemouth nearly four decades later. For more than a decade, Tennessee’s state-record largemouth looked untouchable. The angler on the right, Darren Nunley, is now officially Tennessee’s new state-record holder after landing a 15.75-pound largemouth that ended an 11-year run for the old mark.
