VERY helpful #MediaLit / connected learning / digital learning vocabulary: "Anytime" vs "Real Time" learning. I'm SO glad to be participating in the hybrid #digiURI Summer Institute in Digital Literacy again this year! /3

I’m running to replace the co-sponsor of the “Teach Both Sides of the Holocaust” bill. Can you retweet and follow to help me get to 15k followers and flip this seat?

I like @dylanwiliam's line: we need to stop thinking about motivation as an input and start thinking about it as outcome.

“Engaging” is not a synonym for “Fun”. When kids are engaged they are Curious, they Participate, and they Persevere despite the difficulty of the task. #EducatorsATLAS #edchat #ThursdayThoughts

I lived here for 6 years when my kids were little. It is one of the more diverse suburbs and one of the biggest traditions in the city. We went every year we lived there. My heart is breaking.

A 4th of July parade was the site of yet another mass shooting ... this time in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park. tmz.com/2022/07/04/shots-fir…

Kids, School, and Suicide =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- People are asking about the stats I presented about school days being associated with child suicide. There are many ways to look at it. Simply, using July as a reference month, you can easily see "school peaks." It's very striking. /1

With teacher morale seemingly at an all-time low, school districts are looking for ways to keep educators from burning out and quitting. One idea: Give them an extra day off. @nadiatamezr @EdSurge edsurge.com/news/2022-06-22-…

This article describes everything I have seen in my school this year. There is a related article with a link that has suggestions for action steps to help- I hope these changes can be put in place as our students need it so badly.
I have spent the last few years developing the non-profit Life Navigator School Program to address the issues these schools are seeing… and ⁦@clairecm⁩ work shows SO clearly why it is needed. nytimes.com/interactive/2022…

This is one of the greatest traditions at our school! It is powerful to see parents and teachers celebrating their children as writers and creators outside of the school setting.
What 6th grade Language Arts students revealed in their thoughts, words, creativity, and collaboration gives me so much hope for our future. Grateful to all who made time to come celebrate as a community! @FRANKGallery1 @DurhamAcademy

My daughter sent this pic. Tomorrow is the first day of finals so the cafeteria at UNC turned their salad bar into a candy bar for the day.

We don’t have to live like this. Children should never be traumatized like this. The midterm elections are less than 200 days away. Use your voice and vote on the issue of gun violence prevention. Text READY to 644-33.

In 1959, Eugene Ionesco wrote the absurdist play Rhinoceros in which one by one, an entire town of people suddenly transform into rhinos. At first, people are horrified but as the contagion spreads, (almost) everyone comes to accept that turning into a rhinoceros is fine. 1/

“This is a celebration of the fact that you took a risk,” McGee told the four dozen in attendance. “You went for something that you weren’t sure would even work out and in some cases it did not. But you know what? You’re all going to college somewhere.” latimes.com/california/story…

I'm just learning that there are multiple school districts around the country that do four-day weeks. Trainings & meetings on Friday. Probably virtual tutoring when it's needed. Someone explain to me why we all aren't doing this? As a teacher & a parent I love it.

Anyone who thinks romance novels have unrealistic plots should know that I met someone a month before graduating college and it turned out we both had accepted jobs in the same city- married 22 years 😍
Anyone who thinks romance novels have unrealistic plots should know that I was just friended on Facebook by an old elementary school friend who now owns a ranch in Montana.
