I've arrived at the optimal pencil method for my process. I don't mind erasing regular pencil becasue the dip pen ink I use over it doesn't smudge, BUT my lettering fineliners smudge. Solution: non-photo blue pencil but just for lettering.t

This works better for me than using blue pencil for everything becasue I erase quite a bit in the penciling process, and blue pencil doesn't erase as well as regular pencil
