🇩🇪 German Chancellor Merz broke down in tears on national TV yesterday at the opening of a synagogue in Munich, declaring: “We are experiencing a new wave of antisemitism in our country. I declare war on all forms of old and new antisemitism in Germany on behalf of the entire federal government of the Federal Republic of Germany. We can't allow this.” Between 2019 and 2025, Germany was the second-largest arms supplier to Israel after the United States, providing naval equipment, armored vehicles, and weapons. In April 2024, Nicaragua filed a case against Germany at the ICJ, alleging that by providing political, financial, and military support to Israel, Germany is facilitating and failing to prevent genocide against Palestinians. Jewish-Australian journalist @antloewenstein’s new Al Jazeera documentary explores this psychotic relationship with Israel, born of “profound anti-Palestinian racism” and “historical amnesia.” He explores how Germany’s vow of “never again” has been weaponized to shield Israel from accountability and silence criticism — even as Gaza is systematically starved and erased.
