If we do not know the meaning of emptiness there is no basis for training in ultimate bodhichitta, because emptiness is the object of ultimate bodhichitta. ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
Actual ultimate bodhichitta is a wisdom that directly realizes emptiness motivated by bodhichitta. It is called ‘ultimate bodhichitta’ because its object is ultimate truth, emptiness, and it is one of the main paths to enlightenment. ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
Training in higher wisdom is learning to develop and increase our wisdom realizing emptiness through contemplating and meditating on emptiness, with a motivation of renunciation. This wisdom is very profound. ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
Many people are very intelligent in destroying their enemies, caring for their families, finding what they want and so forth, but this is not wisdom. Even animals have such intelligence. ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
The nature of wisdom is a virtuous intelligent mind that functions to understand meaningful objects such as the existence of past and future lives, karma and emptiness. ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
We need to meditate on emptiness again and again, bringing our mind and emptiness closer and closer together until finally they mix indistinguishably. ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
The more completely our mind mixes with emptiness, the weaker our appearance of true existence becomes and the more our self-grasping is reduced. ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
At present, even if we understand emptiness intellectually, our meditation on emptiness has little power to transform our mind because our mind does not mix with emptiness. Such meditation does not have enough power to overcome our self-grasping. ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
The subtle mind is naturally concentrated because, when the winds dissolve within the central channel, they no longer support distracting conceptions. ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
If we understand that objects depend upon the subjective mind, we can change the way objects appear to us by changing our own mind. Gradually, we will gain the ability to control our mind and in this way solve all our problems. ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
The very subtle wind is our own body, or continuously residing body; and the very subtle mind is our own mind, or continuously residing mind. The union of these two is called the ‘indestructible wind and mind’. ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
