Excellent keynote presentation by @TanyaTalaga@UofRegina Spring Equinox Event yesterday entitled “All Our Relations - Finding the Path Forward.” Her compelling film “Spirit to Soar” (2021) is a must-see.
A quick turn in the weather over these next couple days, could mean some are left without adequate plans for sheltering in #yqr.

Day 4 of Follow the Call of the #Drum workshop. After warming the drums in the sun we rubbed bear grease onto the hides to protect them from drying out & sang the #bear song. Nokum Betty showed me the spirits in my drum - the #eagle, hawk & Northern Lights. They are rejoicing!
Day 2 of the #drum-making workshop. Stringing the hide on the frame is challenging because the sinew dries quickly in the sun. Elder Betty demonstrates the technique and shows how to pull the hide tightly. The drums are left to dry in the sun. #learning#ceremony
Making the drumstick is next. Sewing the leather is difficult - it is a challenge to make the stitches even. Traditionally, some needles were made from moose bone and sinew was used for thread. A full day of #learning
Day 1 of the drum-making workshop through All Nations Hope Network led by Elder Betty McKenna. We are using elk hides & cutting the hides first and then soaking them. #listening and #learning
