Deniz was 16. He was used to pull carriages around central park so his human could make money. All day, every day. Deniz collapsed and died on the pavement in the park yesterday. Yet another in a long of these horses to die in NYC so people can exploit them. This practice should be outlawed. Itโ€™s selfish and unnecessary. RIP Deniz. Iโ€™m sorry humans failed you โ™ฅ๏ธ

Keith and Margot....
We have stated, repeatedly, on the record, that Margot is a colleague. A visiting professional. A fellow surveyor of boundaries who shares Keith's exact line of work and nothing more. We wish to issue a correction. We were under-reporting. The evidence has become difficult to file under "colleagues," and in the interest of accuracy, here it is. Keith comes off the barn roof for her in record time, and the record keeps falling. Four minutes on the first visit, which had only ever matched the insurance assessor. Then three forty. Then three twelve. Dave has been timing it, and has stopped pretending he is timing the lichen. He opens the yard gate for her, deliberately, then stands back and waits, which he has done for no other living creature alive. He also closes it behind her, which is the part Dave cannot get over. He let her find the flex in the corner post. Fourteen months Keith walked that boundary and missed a four-millimetre fault. Margot found it in forty-eight hours, and Keith stood beside her and let himself be out-surveyed without complaint, which, for the most ungovernable animal in Devon, is roughly a sonnet. He also showed her the barn roof route a second time. She had climbed it in under a minute on the Tuesday. He showed her again anyway. No reason has been offered. And when she leaves, he stands on the south bank looking down the empty lane for exactly four minutes, then goes back to the knotweed until the next trailer. We have called this a working relationship. We have, frankly, been protecting their privacy and our own composure. Keith needs no one, and proved it by opening the last gate only to walk back through. Of all the things a free creature could choose, he has chosen the goat who out-surveyed him. The cousin is bringing her back in May. The colleagues were never only colleagues. We regret the error. We do not, on reflection, regret it very much.

Almighty God, We lift before You Stephen Ogilvie, asking for Your mercy, protection, and healing. Lord Jesus Christ, You are the Great Physician, the One who binds up the broken-hearted and restores those who suffer. We pray that You would stretch forth Your hand upon Stephen in his hospital bed. Grant wisdom and skill to every doctor, surgeon, nurse, and caregiver attending to him. Strengthen his body, preserve his life, and bring healing to his wounds. In this time of pain and uncertainty, surround him with Your peace. Comfort his family and loved ones who keep watch beside him. Uphold them with courage, patience, and hope when the road ahead seems difficult. We pray also for our nation and for the city of Belfast. Where there is anger, bring restraint. Where there is fear, bring wisdom. Where there is division, bring truth and justice. May evil be neither ignored nor answered with further evil, but may righteousness, lawful justice, and neighbourly love prevail. Lord, we remember that every person is made in Your image and stands in need of Your grace. Bring repentance where there is wrongdoing, healing where there is hurt, and peace where there is unrest. Through the prayers of St Stephen, the first martyr, who forgave those who harmed him, teach us to look to Christ, who alone is our hope in life and in death. And now, O Lord, we commend Stephen into Your loving care, trusting in Your unfailing mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Do elephants carry grudges? Generally, we find the orphans choose forgiveness over revenge. Mbegu here, for instance, was severely harmed by humans โ€“ speared and stoned before her rescue. But she chose forgiveness, embracing her Keeper family wholeheartedly. The orphans can be cautious about the things that hurt them, though. Calves rescued from wells can be wary of water at first. Orphans who lost their families to gunfire flinch at loud sounds. And after another orphan, Ndoria, endured a tail-biting spate from the herd, many gave her a wide berth. Time, patience, and love heal most wounds โ€“ even Ndoria was eventually embraced by the group too.

โ€œDear Guests From India . . ." Hotel in Swiss ski resort of Gstaad calls out scammy/disrespectful behavior, rudeness, poor hygiene of wealthy Indian travelers - "Everything you will find on the buffet is freshly prepared and comes from local producers. Please do not take anything with you, the food is for breakfast only. If you would like a lunch bag, you can order it from the service staff and pay for it." - "Please note that other guests also want an appetizing buffet. Only use the cutlery provided.โ€ - โ€œIn addition to you, there are other guests from all over the world in the hotel. They also appreciate the peace and quiet and therefore we ask you to be quiet in the corridor and not speak to loud on the balcony."

Arsenal, one of Englandโ€™s big football clubs, just donated a pile of their playersโ€™ old socks to a horse and donkey sanctuary, and the rescued animals are now wearing them. It works because modern football socks are footless. Players wear separate grip socks on their feet, so the long sleeves get thrown out. That shape turns out to be perfect for sliding onto an animalโ€™s leg, where they keep flies off sore skin, hold bandages in place, and cover the leg while hooves are trimmed. The sanctuary, the biggest of its kind in Britain, says the bright red socks have already cut down on vet visits. The donkeys have also decided they make good toys, and have taken to pulling bananas out of them.

Dear Britain, you were warned. No armed forces, no ammunition, no ministers of defence, no patriots in the govt. You are on a slippery slope to hell when the Muslims you have been coddling turn on you with 7th century fire and brimstone jihad... It is coming soon.
๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง A police hate crime adviser in Bradford was fired after she warned police they were ignoring the threat of Islamist extremism following a synagogue attack in Manchester. She says West Yorkshire Police was more focused on avoiding offense to Muslims than addressing anti-Jewish terrorism. Police say her comments were "divisive and inflammatory."

This year the Home Office moved to stop expert sheep shearers from Australia and New Zealand coming to shear British sheep. The people who keep the animals comfortable were declared surplus to requirements. For over a decade, around 75 of the best shearers on earth have flown in each spring on a simple visa concession. In a few brutal weeks they take the wool off up to two million sheep. A top shearer clears a ewe in two or three minutes. Hundreds a day. Calm hands, no panic in the animal. It is a global trade and a young body's game, and Britain has never grown enough of its own. The official line? Fourteen years to train Britons, so the door is closing. Here is what that tidy sentence ignores. A sheep must be shorn every year or she overheats, cannot move properly, and gets eaten alive by flies and maggots. Shearing on time is welfare, plain and simple, written into law and into the animal's own skin. So a government that lectures farmers without pause about welfare has quietly made the most basic welfare task harder to carry out. After the outcry they allowed one "final" year. Then the experts are gone for good. A sector already losing money on every fleece, already burning wool it cannot sell, now told it cannot even get the people in to take the wool off. You could be forgiven for thinking somebody wants the British sheep gone.
