A team from @FireWhitehaven recently returned from the Red Bull Soapbox Race which took place at Alexander Palace in London.
The team finished in a fantastic 8th position out of 67 competitors! 👏

Tonight Whitehaven have been at a Height Rescue exercise with both Workington appliances and Maryport at Iggesunds in Workington. 2 casualties were rescued from a platform on the side of a silo using our Twin Rope Access equipment. Good learning for all involved

Close the kitchen door, get everybody out, call 999 and ask for the fire service and wait outside until our crews arrive.

To keep everyone safe, make sure you avoid distractions whilst cooking. Distraction whilst cooking is a main cause of call outs across the country.

This week is cooking safety week. Each year a lot of accidental fires are caused by cooking.
This campaign is designed to raise awareness and reduce avoidable fire in the homes caused by cooking. Never be distracted whilst cooking and make sure everything is off after use.

This week Green Watch visited Arlecdon Primary school where we discussed fire safety, looked at our fire kit and looked around the fire engine. Finished with squirting water. Visit was enjoyed by all @cfrs
