Hey indie and self pub writers! I am open for cover art commissions if anyone's looking for an afforadble alternative to AI. Would love to work with you on your projects, any genre!
Putting together a website so I have somewhere I can direct people to about my art and fashion designs. I’m excited to make a hybrid 90s nostalgia / medieval manuscript style vibe
Watching videos on hand sewing eyelet holes, maybe I can do this for kirtles, the problem iv run into with the metal grommets coming out might be solved this way…. Sigh it’s sooooo much more work though 😭
Omg the school I work at has a culinary program that’s getting rid of a bunch of old textbooks and coolbooks, just a big trolley with a sign saying “free”. I’m nabbing some cool stuff
I think my next reads after Lorna Doone and Cambridge Companion to Medieval Ethics will be Kamikaze Girls and Pockets: An Intimate History. I try to always be reading a fiction and a nonfiction and I wanted another fashion/garment history book so this is good timing lol
Anne Shirley really was on to something when she reinacted the Lady of Shallot. I think we should bring back dramatically acting out scenes from medieval gothic literature as a hobby
I’m gonna need the girlies to think a LITTLE bit more critically about why the fashion industry might want you to a) value appearances over practicality and b) be forced into buying an extra accessory men don’t need to buy in order to go out.
Also maybe it’s because I wear Lolita which has really big full poofy skirts, but iv never had pockets in a dress OR putting things in said pockets change or mess up the shape of the dress at all lmao even the seam pockets which everyone says are the worst for that?
Dirndls also have seam pockets and it doesn’t mess up the shape so idk what dresses you’re all talking about or what you’re trying to put in them idk 🤷♀️
This whole “I don’t know why the millennial women want [X thing that contributes to gender equality], I don’t even need that! I’m totally fine with being inconvenienced due to my gender!” thing isn’t cute.
Like yeah it’s fine if you like purses and also wear dresses that are tight fitting enough that putting stuff in your pockets makes the dress look odd. But loudly declaring it “annoying” that millennial women campaign for more options for women is really poor form.
