To all funding agencies and journals that asked and continue to ask for fancy genomic data and looked down on field-work based data as "just" natural history work. I am curious to learn if all the obsession for genomic work helped conserve our biodiversity? 0 sarcasm, 💯 anger.

How many more lives will it take? 5 PhD scholars lost to suicide at @IITKanpur in 18 months – yet the silence from the administration is deafening. @EduMinOfIndia @dpradhanbjp @karandi65 AIRSA demands immediate action from the Director & Council Head. This neglect must end

True, my best Phd students were not CSIR/DBT/Inspire JRF fellows. Indeed, we lose the best before we even assess them.

Completely true for the Indian way of conducting Phd interviews. After sitting through many committees, screening NET/DBT passed individuals, it is clear to me that doing these examinations as a mandate is not serving anybody well.

#ResearchatCCMB @Fishy_Neel & @gupathy have designed and optimized an eDNA-based quantitative PCR assay to map the presence and spread of invasive armored sailfin catfish in Eastern Ghats. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/… But why is it important? 1/n @CSIR_IND #invasivespecies #ecology

This fish can hibernate and dry out, but when it comes back into contact with water… it will "come to life" again‼️🤯

Invasive alien species (IAS) are among the top five drivers of biodiversity loss, and their impact doesn't stop there. They are intricately linked to other global challenges, including climate change, food and water security, and human health. undp-nature.exposure.co/a-si…
