Recess is often seen as a break in the school day, but it can also be a space for belonging. In this @EdCanNetwork article, Ophea, @UofT, & @MLSEFoundation share how they transformed recess at a @YRDSB school into a more inclusive experience: bit.ly/4x0FBi9
ALT Leveraging Student Voice and Choice in Recess activity Offerings: A Collaborative Approach to Inclusion
The impact and importance of recess has been on the minds of many these last few days but for 15 years we've been shouting out loud!!! A few weeks before the updated policy statement on "The Crucial Roll of Recess in School" by the American Academy of Pediatrics, we provided free webinars on painting playgrounds, introducing a visual organizer of how to plan an inclusive and complete playground to meet the needs of todays children. Based on the CDC and SHAPE America's Recess Strategies, but expanded by us in response to the growing needs we hear from schools across the US the Fit and Fun Playscapes Playground Planning Formula™ is spot on to the needs outlined in the policy statement. The link to the actual policy statement is pasted below in the comments. Read it. Our children's health depends on it. #recessiscrucial#recessmatters#schoolrecess#aap#inclusiverecess@followers
Winding down the week, feeling positive about all the different projects we’ve created for our community and school district friends and partners! From Austism Walks to Story Walks, and painted playgrounds to sensory paths, we’ve proud to support all these awesome projects! #communitysupport#autismwalk#playgroundmarkings#sensorypathways#EarthDay
