The Thing Called Love is among Peter Bogdanovich's lesser-known movies. Nonetheless, it's wonderful from beginning to end. It follows four characters and makes you love them, feel for them — and that's great film-making.
Rewatching California Suite. A joyous film with a superb cast divided into four segments. The best one belongs to the Brits: Michael Caine and Maggie Smith are just divine. Walter Matthau and Elaine May are no slouches either.
Rewatching Fun on a Weekend. Nothing to write home about, but kind of charming — and Priscilla Lane makes up for a very annoying leading man, Eddie Bracken.
Rewatching San Antonio on a brand-new Blu-ray. It's just for Flynn's die-hards (which I am) — otherwise it's the most predictable and childish western any studio could conceive to squander one of its brightest stars.
Rewatching Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. Although I can't say it's a very good film—hardly unusual for director Stanley Kramer—there's something that makes it compulsively watchable: Hepburn, Tracy, and Poitier.
