Why I Spoke Up β οΈ
Following the recent events, several people have asked me why I chose to speak up. Wouldn't it have been easier to stay silent and avoid the attention altogether?
Honestly, yes. It would have been much easier.
My intention was never to insert myself into drama, gain followers, or attack anyone personally. My goal has always been to make meaningful connections within the community.
I also want to be clear that I have no personal issue with the individual involved. My disagreement was with the actions and their potential consequences, not the person.
The reason I spoke up is simple: I believe in mutual respect. When we are guestsβwhether in someone's home, community, or countryβI believe we should make an effort to respect local rules, customs, and social expectations. The way we conduct ourselves affects not only ourselves, but also how others are perceived. In this case, my concern was that if kigurumi becomes associated with disruptive or inconsiderate behavior, it could negatively affect how the public views the community as a whole. My fear is that it may encourage event organizers to impose additional restrictions on kigurumi, making it harder for the community to participate in future events.
Some people agreed with me, and some disagreed. That's perfectly fine.
At the end of the day, I spoke up because staying silent would have gone against my principles.
I said what I believed needed to be said. I stand by it, and I'm moving forward.
