A Gulfstream G200 business jet, N318JF, crashed during an attempted emergency landing at La Romana International Airport in the Dominican Republic on Sunday, killing both crew members on board.
The aircraft had arrived from Puerto Rico and refueled before departing for Austin, Texas. According to Dominican aviation authorities, the crew declared an emergency approximately 16 nautical miles southwest of La Romana after reportedly experiencing an engine-related mechanical failure.
The pilots attempted to return to the airport, but the aircraft crashed before completing the landing. Both crew members were fatally injured.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the accident.
