A bit serendipitous that FTL is getting its own pro soccer club again at NSU via @FTLUTD.
In this 1945 photo of NASFL (now FLL Airport), you can see an auxiliary training runway complex in the distance. That's where NSU is today. Remnants of those runways still exist.

The planes in that photo are TBM Avengers, the torpedo bombers based at Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale, five of which famously disappeared in the Flight 19 incident, which inspired the name of our group way back in 2010.
