Pet Portrait commissions open for Xmas, including doubles for the first time ever. Cats and Dogs tell me it makes them feel very special and glamorous, chickens say it makes them feel more than just an egg machine. floperry.com/shop/custom-pet…

I have been informed by the Chief Whip & the Labour Party leadership that the whip has been withdrawn from me for voting to scrap the two-child benefit cap, which would lift 330,000 children out of poverty. I will always stand up for the most vulnerable in our society.
Community note
This X user did not vote to remove the two-child cap, they voted to amend the King's Speech to state that the King wishes that it were removed. Had the amendment passed, the cap would have remained in place pending actual legislation on the matter. labourlist.org/2024/07/labour…

With the Greens now having the same number of seats as Reform, the UK media should provide them the same platform and level of coverage as Farage’s ilk. Will it happen though? #GE24

🔵Reform won four seats. 🟢The Greens won four seats. This graphic shows the four Reform seats. The four Green seats are lumped in with ‘other’. It has begun. There will be more. Call it out when you see it. Give the Greens the platform they have earned.

Every single broadcaster cutting away from Jeremy Corbyn as he was about to give his victory speech to cover Nigel Farage is the past decade in British politics in a nutshell

Five pro-Gaza independent candidates have ousted Labour MPs overnight. That means there are more pro-Gaza independents than Reform MPs heading to Westminster.

With a few seats left to declare, Labour on track to receive fewer total votes than they did in 2019. Austerity, migrant bashing and authoritarianism made a more efficient (older, wealthier, whiter, more suburban) distribution of seats, but no one can tell you it is more popular.

Labour already peddling a narrative that this victory is down to a changed Labour party. The reality of course is Keir Starmer was holding the pass the parcel at the right time, when the Tories eventually imploded. So they’ve won by default, on a lower share of the vote than 2017

Israeli air strikes have hit Al Ahli hospital in Gaza. More than 500 people - patients, doctors & those sheltering - have been killed. What unspeakable horror. We will mourn their loss forever. Our leaders could have spoken up for peace. They chose to cheer on war instead. When will they demand an end to these atrocious war crimes? How many Palestinian lives will it take to call for these indiscriminate killings to stop? Please, for the sake of humanity, raise your voice for an immediate ceasefire. The existence of the Palestinian people is at stake.

You know what? Labour's right to rule out hard left ideas like bringing capital gains tax in line with income tax, an idea so loopy and Marxist that Margaret Thatcher's Chancellor of the Exchequer did it in 1988.
Labour has no plans to increase capital gains tax, shadow chancellor tells Today Despite Angela Rayner criticising profits PM made from capital gains (as set out in tax return) bbc.co.uk/news/politics
