Some rationale:
This is an important step, and we want people to read it closely, discuss it openly, and share their views before anything moves forward.
Bifrost is being built as public infrastructure for Cardano: open source, independently stewarded, with no bridge token and no founder allocations.
Catalyst funded the testnet phase. This draft is about the next step toward mainnet, including security, private mainnet readiness, legal structure, ecosystem adoption, and the coordination needed to make a Bitcoin to Cardano bridge work in practice.
This ask is focused on bridge technology, security, ecosystem bootstrap, and launch readiness.
In practice, this means bridge hardening, audits and security work, internal mainnet, legal setup, SDK support, whitelabel portal support, and the coordination needed to bring Bifrost to private mainnet.
The launch and operations costs are included as a projection, so the community can see the full plan in the Roadmap & Budget overview section, while the current ask focuses on the work required to get Bifrost ready for a secure launch path.
The budget has been jointly decided on with a 0.16 ADA/USD reference price and a 10% contingency, bringing the current ask to 12.3M ADA.
At a high level, the proposal is built around three workstreams: Bridge hardening & Security, Ecosystem readiness & partnerships, and Legal, stewardship & economy.
We are also providing hands-on development support for any Cardano dApp integrating Bifrost via SDK or whitelabel portal and fBTC in their workflows, creating new opportunities for Bitcoin liquidity across the ecosystem.
We know proposals like this deserve scrutiny, and that is exactly why we are publishing it early for feedback from every Cardano dRep.
Please read it, challenge it, and let us know what you think. 💙
