Always stuck there. But also the era that’s easier to replicate cuz the whole music creation as built-in digital work station took over. It was still accentuating playing bands to start the 80s.
Y’all really can’t create anything meaningful because your point of reference is 1990 to 2010 lmao.

We JUST saw the wealthiest of wealthy men in the “right type of crowd” get exposed for liking lil girls (and boys) in them files I would rather be assumed to be a “broke nigga” than a kiddy diddler
All that “big ass ghetto booty” shit is for weird broke niggas. All women need is a pretty face and nice titties. A big ass booty brings out the wrong crowd and the wrong attention.

Wasn’t the first “alt R&B” album by any stretch but it more than most led the decline in vocal standards in R&B, especially artists releasing sleepy projects white rags would go goo goo ga ga over that also coincided with the rise of anti-anxiety drugs in white suburban teens
frank ocean’s channel orange was the beginning of the “alt r&b” era, yay or nay?

Even jazz which came from ragtime and blues
We'd have no music in this country without Mississippi and this isn't an exaggeration

Because y’all be overlooking the 60s R&B girls and I don’t like that.
(With apologies for the lateness of the hour). Yesterday was about the men. Today we celebrate the songstresses. The sirens. The vehicles of power, grace, and beauty all wrapped up in vocal delivery. For Day 13 of the #BlackMusicMonthChallenge, share a song (or songs) from your favorite female R&B voice(s). (Again, groups are allowed!)

Ion let mfs blame shit on demons, that shit too easy. A jealous mf will kill the shit out u. Most ppl do not have the capacity to reconcile that jealousy wit themselves. They rather target the object of their envy. Don't matter what you do, they will kill you. Fuck dat.

And outsiders should inexhaustively be shamed for attempting to fill the day with cultural customs that aren’t reflective of nor show reverence for the elders who started Juneteenth. It’s not carnival, I’m sorry but no.

Now…Blacks anywhere in America should celebrate Juneteenth cuz our domestic liberation is linked by unfolding spread of Emancipation. And many of our elders carried Juneteenth during migration out of TX/South. But…be mindful of how and why Juneteenth came to be and honor that.
This is the problem with anything becoming federalized. Like, the cat’s out the bag and there’s no way to restrict anyone celebrating it in ways that don’t serve the history of the holiday

This why you should do road trips & find any opportunity you can to hit back routes. But @FreddyLA7 you’re in Louisiana, time to turn off Ella Langley and put on Slim Harpo, Professor Longhair, Buddy Guy, Dr. John, Meters, Allen Toussaint, Keith Frank & Juvenile’s 400 Degreez
The vibes are insane. Driving through the great state of Louisiana on our way to New Orleans. It’s crazy how diverse this country is, every day the scenery looks different.

People get dismissive when you say you like dipping off to little small towns or non-urban centers or smaller cities to do Juneteenth but they don’t usually got these problems.
Telling Black Americans to “seek out their own spaces” for BLACK AMERICAN HOLIDAYS, IN THEIR HOME is a different type of nasty. Instead of just sitting it out or celebrating with & FOR us, y'all fight tooth & nail to step on our toes & we don’t do this shit to y'all. The absolute audacity & entitlement to colonize our culture while expecting us to respect yours says everything about yall cultural character.

This is so true. Those venues, even some of the smaller ones aren’t as accommodating as they used to be. The days you could just shoot a little 3 song ep through email and get on are less. Sometimes you gotta go 3rd party to get in hole inna walls, especially in urban centers.
It's hard to be Maurice White in 2026 for numerous reasons but if you even had the personnel, just getting in a van and hitting some venues is EXPENSIVE.

I listen to this every single day cause they went in that studio and handled big business. What old song do you play like it just came out?
