Today, I released our special Back to Benghazi series on my YouTube channel the
@The_Watch_Floor.
Before anything else, I want to thank Dave "Boon" Benton and
@osamashahumi for making this journey with me. Returning to Benghazi was long overdue. I was ready to go back on September 13, 2012, to hunt down those terrorists responsible for the attack, so this return comes after far too long a delay.
A special thank you to Osama for serving as our interpreter throughout the trip. Every conversation, every story, and every connection depended on bridging languages and cultures. He helped make that possible. I am deeply grateful for his efforts, and if he was a bad translator, I will never know, hahaha.
In this first episode, we return to the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. We discuss what life was like in the months leading up to the September 2012, terrorist attacks, what unfolded during the opening hours of that tragic night, and the first three of the six attacks our overseas family endured before dawn.
While visiting the compound, we learned something that stopped us in our tracks. Every year since September 2012, someone quietly places a bouquet of flowers at the front of the compound in honor of our fallen.
No cameras. No headlines. No recognition. Just a simple act of remembrance. Even after all these years, someone still makes the time and effort to pay their respects. Standing there, seeing where those flowers are placed, was a powerful reminder that honor can be found in the simplest of gestures.
I hope you'll join us as we begin this journey back to Benghazi. First episode is in comments!
