A moody autumnal Lismore Castle in Waterford this afternoon 📷— built by Prince John in 1185, back when the English were just starting their '𝘭𝘦𝘵'𝘴 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘐𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥' phase. Little did the soon to be king of England know, the Irish are still here—strolling by, giving the castle a nod, and thinking, 'Nice try, John, but it’ll take more than a castle to keep us out, even if this one was magnificently built!
