This Dutch side, despite some undoubted star quality, are completely incompatible with my otherwise trusted World Cup TV picture setting of "Dynamic"

We certainly got a clear indication of how many Japanese fans are there after that equaliser.

A truly wonderful story. And, come on, admit it: you wouldn't raise even an eyebrow if your spouse spent around 5% of their post-tax income buying a pair of your old shoes. You'd think this perfectly normal behaviour and shame on those who think differently.
Exclusive: Sturgeon donated £290 shoes to SNP fundraiser…and watched Murrell buy them back for £4,000 dailymail.com/news/article-1…

There’s a lot about the Atlanta Falcons you’d struggle to like but the commitment to reasonable concessions prices is commendable.
First look at the menu boards for the #WorldCup inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium. #WeAreAtlanta

World Cup and sleep disruptions. Some fans are finding the timing of their team more difficult to stay up

Last night’s Scotland performance was really pretty bad but I’m more interested in how Clarke plans to make the most of the limited possession we’ll get in the next two games and how we play on the break. Not sure Shankland starts either game.

The tv licence QR code during the BBC coverage is quite the thing - wonder if ITV will follow and link to a contest where you can go to the WC Final but have to sit next to Andi Peters?

3 - Scotland have won their opening match at the FIFA World Cup for the third time (1974, 1982). They led their group after the first matchday each time with Brazil featuring in all three groups. Atop.

A pretty dire game lacking in quality and an extremely poor performance but it’s a win! Huge improvement needed in next two games but nice for once to reflect on that from top of a WC group. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Baffled by inability to get any control of the game with that midfield but happy to be ahead.

McInnes seems like one of those things that was always likely at some point. I think his man-management & awareness of expectations & what the job demands will be fine; major Qs remain re Club recruitment/wider philosophy not entirely related to such an appointment.

Peter is - as everyone knows - a class act and a top man (and my Mother’s favourite TV heartthrob) and as Scotland’s journey continues I’m already looking forward to him ending up in a day nightclub in South Beach with a crowd of over-stimulated local ladies and gents.
It turns out @The_Proclaimers are massive in Haiti. And @BedjineD would be a hit in Scotland. The grilled goat meat & plantain I can vouch for. But I must add that handshake was unrelated to his chosen Scottish football team… For me, this is what the World Cup is all about.

Ah yes that famous “negotiation” where Japan unconditionally surrendered after two atom bombs and Hitler blew his brains out.
JD Vance: If you go back to WW2 or every major conflict in human history, they all ended with some kind of negotiation.
Community note
World War II ended with unconditional surrenders by Germany on May 8, 1945, and Japan on September 2, 1945, rather than negotiation. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconditi… archives.gov/milestone-docu… nationalww2museum.org/war/topics/end…
