At about 1:15 this morning our girl Amy (JC: Perfect Art) delivered a healthy colt by Laurie’s Rocket. It was uneventful and textbook, thank God. Our sweet baby has so far done all he’s supposed to: stood, nursed, pooped, wobbled around like a drunken sailor. He’s bay atm but I think he’s going to be gray, it’s dark but I am suspicious… He’s super small but super strong and Amy did an amazing job. She’s a good mama and after lying down a bit post-foaling she is up and nibbling on hay, watching over her last foal and letting him nurse. I am so proud of her, she’s been through so much and used every bit of what she had to keep him alive in there. Well done, mama. I have stripped their stall and they have fresh bedding, we’ll have the vet out for all the post-foaling stuff in the morning and will update ya’ll then. Thrilling news! White Abarrio is the kind of horse we need more of in the breeding shed, and I'm hopeful that breeders will give him the opportunities he deserves. While Race Day may not be a premier son of Tapit, it's worth remembering that sire lines are at times carried on via relatively surprising members - who in the early 70s would have suspected that, of all the great sons and grandsons of Bold Ruler, it would be the modest Bold Reasoning, by Boldnesian, whose branch of the line would persist 50 years down the road? And while the Unbridled branch of Fappiano is still highly influential, with stallions like Liam's Map getting multiple sire-quality sons, I think it's fair to say that the Cryptoclearance branch, thanks to Candy Ride, is in a stronger position right now. How fortunate that the brilliant Candy Ride was not denied a chance at stud by virtue of being by Ride the Rails, who never won a graded stakes. Only time will tell if White Abarrio will join such elusive ranks, but I'm delighted that he will be given the chance.

Saddened to hear the news of the passing of my dear friend @EricGuillot14, but a blessing that he no longer has to suffer. Miisunderstood by some, and despite our differences at times, I will forever cherish the memories we spent together with those special moments at the racetrack, in the Winners’ Circle, and in our personal lives, simply priceless! They broke the mold when they made ‘da Jenius’, and frankly, there will never be another. With love and sympathies to Anna, his daughter, Olivia, sons Rhett, Carter, and Eric Jr., I will miss our talks. Thank you for all that you did for me and my family, I am grateful.
