Mark Carney claims he didn't say what said. The backpedal: "To be clear, if you look at the speech, I've never advocated that all of a sudden there was going to be a band of middle powers, you know, the M20 or something like that." The facts: "I argue the middle powers must act together because if we're not at the table, we're on the menu... in a world of great power rivalry, the countries in between have a choice: compete with each other for favour or to combine to create a third path with impact." Another day, another spin.

“The North American trade pact is extremely important if Canada wants to project its influence and compete globally. We’re incredibly fortunate to be in North America, next to the largest economy in human history. At the same time, we need to remember that we simply cannot replace the U.S. economy.”

I Can’t wait to watch @FoodProfessor in Committee Next week. Mark your Calendars. Sylvain Charlebois will be providing practical recommendations at no additional cost of the government to help with food affordability. Thank you for your service 👌👏
On June 16, next week in Ottawa, we will present three practical recommendations that require no additional government spending—exactly the kind of policy thinking Canada needs right now. Be sure to watch!

You’re speaking for the Americans again. Cave and they’ll seek to extract more. We must always build our position so we are dealing from strength. We’re not gonna be the abused partner who can’t speak to anyone without permission. Is that what you want. Carney knows what he’s doing. And who he is dealing with. And how to build a formidable position.
Want to keep the Gordie Howe bridge closed? You do exactly what PM Carney is doing in Europe.

Honoured to be invited again to testify before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food next week as part of its study on Food Security in the Face of Global Instability. I'll be sharing my views on yesterday's "food strategy", how innovation, automation, food processing capacity, and smarter policies can strengthen Canada's food security while improving affordability for Canadians. Looking forward to contributing to this important national conversation. #cdnpoli #FoodSecurity #AgriFood #Agriculture #FoodPolicy #Canada

I am flabbergasted at how many Liberal supporters can't see how Carney is systematically moving Canada further away from dealing with our neighbor with every speech and trip that he takes. He is doing everything in his power to separate us from the US.

We need to close all out bridges to the US. Better yet, burn them down. We don’t need them at all! We have so many better partners that respect us.

@DanCostellodeux Excellent information especially for your part of the world, Nova Scotia.
"Producing more food and expanding domestic processing capacity is a good thing. But Canada cannot produce everything, nor should it aspire to. Trade makes food more affordable for Canadians while creating opportunities for our trading partners. No country can efficiently compete against the scale, specialization, and efficiencies that international trade provides."

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canadians will be forced to be part of "the next world order" that will emerge from Europe. This will be a unilateral decision that will not ask Canadians for their input. "Canada will be part of that effort."

I agree wholeheartedly … if the government is serious about being fiscally responsible, they need to include the details of where the funding is coming from with each announcement. It’s not just about what we’re spending money on, but how are we affording it.

💯.. Not to mention climate differences … there is no use competing with Mexico on certain produce types because we simply don’t have the temps or sunlight days to be able to grow the same stuff. Strategy is also about picking what NOT to do.

"Not one reporter asked the Prime Minister where the $3.2 billion for these new food investments will come from. That's becoming a pattern. Announcements are easy. Explaining how they'll be funded should be part of the conversation too."
