Looking forward to learning from the RWRI. Thought I’d prepare by going over the Technical Incerto readings as well as reading Safe Haven, by Mark Spitznagel, for the first time. I have obsessed over the Incerto series so it’s rather surprising that it took me so long to get to

Planning on reading the ‘Dao of Capital: Austrian Investing in a Distorted World’ afterwards. Also by Mark Spitznagel. Good month ahead. Looking forward to it.

It’s because they don’t want to attribute their success to luck. In Extremistan environments, success is mostly due to luck. Being skilled/entertaining is a precondition. It’s necessary but not sufficient. Another example of a Extremistan environment is celebrity actors.
Every time an influencer tries this they fail though, unless they use their audience or wealth. Like how ludwig failed, coped and had to start hinting to his chat about his "secret channel" until they found it, blew it up and then he claimed victory.

An argument to personalise your own child’s education and growth? That’s what I intend to do. Not in a pushing way- just in an encouraging yet expectant way. If they get told they shouldn’t be able to solve it then they won’t. So I won’t give them that implication…
Replying to @davidbessis
I did show derivation and anti derivation to my son at 10, then I gave him 80 exercises, he scored 79/80. Once I told him one was not correct, it solved it correctly in 10 seconds. My view is that a lot of children can start calculus, at least the mechanical rules, at that age, some even early, it is likely our schooling systems that doesn’t cater for them.

Currently watching Fonseca vs Djokovic! What a game. Half-way through the 5th set. Even game. Fonseca looks unbelievable. Rooting for Djok to battle through. He looks super tired and Fonseca’s forehand has been phenomenal. But he’s Djokovic…

And he breaks to go up 6-5. Serving for the match.

Incredible win by Fonseca. 3 aces to finish the match. Since he’s beaten Djokovic, I hope he goes far in the tournament. My Dark Horse to win the Roland Garros. Rooting for Zverev to win, but Fonseca is my second favourite to win.

Too many people attempt to form ideas of how the world works without being curious about the past. If one seeks genuine knowledge of the past, more accurate mental models of the world flow.
A man who reads old books cannot be fully captured by modern stupidity. He has dead kings, prophets, poets, killers, saints, drunks, generals, and madmen whispering in his bloodstream. The feed has no chance against this.

It requires being an intellectually curious person. Is this out of reach for most? Are they too not interested enough in the delight of the discovery process… The delight of having a preconceived idea destroyed- if proven false. A discovery of a new world.

I agree in the general. In today’s specific times, I wouldn’t feel comfortable suggesting so. Unless they know enough about Financial markets to buy protective puts on their equity positions. There’s something unsettling and amiss. Something is coming.
40% of Brits invest in the stock market compared to over 62% in America. £2.2T is left in cash because we are too risk averse. Our wealth is tied up in unproductive housing which is now losing money. It is never too late to start investing, you’ll regret not doing it sooner

One of the hidden side-effects of Inflation. It forces the financially illiterate to gamble on the stock market. ETF’s are the obvious solution to this. But will that save you from a Bear Trap?… I don’t want to be responsible for their anguish if a Bear Trap were to occur.

And in trying to extend the duration of the song, they failed to enjoy the music...
Many people that try to maximize and focus on living a long life, don't live much of a life at all. Talk to most older people not one of them, that lived a long life hyperventilated over maximizing the length of their life. They were too busy living it.

Only for meant for highly urbanised city-centres. Shouldn’t be applied to rural towns, farms, etc.
I agree on principle but disagree in practice. If you were to abolish property taxes, you would benefit the older generations- those being the boomer and older Gen X- and hurt the youth as will need to increase income taxes.

My home is paid off. My wife & I allegedly own it FREE & CLEAR. But today we got a bill for property taxes. If we don't pay it, ARMED MEN will come & take it from us & then cage me until I pay them MY MONEY. So do I own it? Am I really free? I already pay 35% income tax easily another 15% taxes in: -Sales. -Gas & fuel. -Capital gains. -Plethora of other taxes. TAXATION IS THEFT. Property tax shouldn't exist.

This afternoon, I’ve been feeling like a swine for whom pearls had been laid before him. Several thoughts of what-ifs and what-if-not have drifted past me… Some have dwelled- persistent to remain in my company. I have concluded I must make for a great conversationalist.

Can you think highly of yourself and, also, have great humility? (I.e feel yourself to be no different than an ordinary person) Without there being a merging of the two. Without hopping from one to the other. But feel both simultaneously.

Just thinking about my friend of course… He’s shy, just like Taleb’s cyclist friend, and asked me to ask twitter on his behalf.
