While forests cover only about 34% of the total U.S. land area, they supply 50% of the nation’s available water. More than 150 million Americans (!!!) rely on forested watersheds for their drinking water. But wait... that's not all. Forests also actively enhance water quality. Trees filter out sediment, bacteria, and pollutants, while their root systems stabilize soil and prevent erosion. Forests are nature’s filtration system, and we protect and enhance this function through responsible stewardship. By maintaining healthy forested watersheds, our forests provide clean water for both people and wildlife. #WaterFromForests #ModernAmericanForestry
