πŸ—οΈπŸŒ± Today we continued our Design & Technology topic, Greenhouses, by exploring how to make structures stronger and more stable. The children built their own frame structures using cocktail sticks and mini gems, investigated how struts can strengthen a framework, and then tested their designs to see which were the strongest. There was some fantastic teamwork, problem-solving and engineering thinking on display! The best part? Once the testing was complete, we got to enjoy eating the mini gems! πŸ˜‹ #DesignTechnology #STEM #FutureEngineers #HandsOnLearning 🌟

πŸ§ͺπŸ”¬ The children explored how different solutes dissolve in various solvents, making careful observations and predictions before creating their own solutions. There was lots of scientific discussion, teamwork and curiosity as we discovered which materials dissolved and which did not. πŸŽ΅β™»οΈ Reduce, Reuse, Rock Out! β™»οΈπŸŽ΅ Rowan Class has been exploring the importance of recycling and reusing materials in creative ways! Using everyday items such as cardboard tubes, boxes and containers, the children designed and made their own musical instruments, thinking carefully about how different materials create different sounds. They also enjoyed investigating movement and transport outdoors, developing their balance, coordination and teamwork skills through a range of exciting activities. What a fantastic day of creativity, exploration and learning! 🎸πŸ₯πŸš²πŸŒ #ReduceReuseRecycle #CreativeLearning #RowanClass #FutureMakers

πŸ›οΈπŸ“œ Year 3 have been busy becoming historians and report writers! As part of our Emperors and Empires topic, the children have thoroughly enjoyed researching the fascinating world of the Roman Army. They explored Roman soldiers, weapons and armour, training routines and battle formations before using their knowledge to create their own non-chronological reports. The children worked hard to organise their writing with clear subheadings, include accurate facts and present their work neatly with detailed illustrations. We have been incredibly impressed by their enthusiasm, determination and the high quality of their finished reports. Take a look at some of our fantastic Roman historians’ work! πŸ›‘οΈβš”οΈπŸ“š #Year3 #History #EmperorsAndEmpires #RomanArmy #ProudToLearn

πŸŒ±πŸ”¬ Year 3 scientists have been investigating seed dispersal! Today, we revisited the life cycle of a tomato plant and explored the important role seeds play in helping plants reproduce. The children shared their knowledge of different seeds before learning about the fascinating ways plants disperse them. Working collaboratively, the children sorted picture cards into different methods of dispersal: wind, water, animals and explosion. They then challenged themselves further by classifying animal-dispersed seeds into those that are eaten, buried or attached to fur. There were some excellent scientific discussions as the children explained their thinking, justified their choices and worked together to solve problems. A fantastic lesson full of teamwork, curiosity and scientific enquiry! πŸŒΏπŸ‘ #Year3 #Science #SeedDispersal #WorkingScientifically #CuriousMinds

What a fantastic week of learning in Peach Class! The children have been busy exploring, creating and developing new skills across the curriculum. πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ Little Chefs in the Kitchen This week, we practised our cutting and chopping skills to make healthy and colourful traffic light sandwiches. The children enjoyed discussing healthy food choices and were very proud of their tasty creations! πŸ“ Marvellous Maths We have been shape detectives, exploring both 2D and 3D shapes. The children created pictures using 2D shapes and challenged themselves to spot 2D shapes hidden within 3D objects. We also introduced sharing and grouping equally, taking our first exciting steps into division. πŸ”€ Phonics Superstars A huge well done to everyone for completing Phase 3 Phonics! πŸŽ‰ We are now moving on to reading and writing longer words, with a focus on words containing double consonants such as rabbit, muffin and hammer. The children have worked incredibly hard and are making excellent progress. ✍️ Fine Motor Fun We have also been developing our pencil control and letter formation, carefully practising writing and recognising the letter β€˜x’ and identifying shapes within our activities. Well done, Peach Class – another week of fantastic learning! πŸŒŸπŸ‘ #PeachClass #EarlyYears #Phonics #Maths #HealthyEating #ProudToLearn

πŸ§ͺπŸ”¬ KS2 scientists were busy investigating the solubility of different materials in today’s Science lesson! To ensure a fair test, we carefully controlled our variables by using the same amount of water and material each time, and stirring for the same length of time. We observed what happened, recorded our findings in a results table and discussed which materials were soluble and insoluble. Fantastic teamwork and scientific thinking all round! πŸ‘πŸ“Š #Science #WorkingScientifically #CuriousMinds
