It's my last day as librarian at Forge Valley School today. One final reminder from me that you don't need a single trend for maximum engagement. All you need is conviction and enthusiasm. We make them believe. We are the music makers; we are the dreamers of dreams. Peace x

Culture Week at Forge Valley School! Pastries, stuffed vine leaves, cake! I can eat in the LRC thanks to the 'party time' clause of the behaviour policy. During certain special events, pupils are allowed to eat up here too! Not a loophole, just an accommodating policy! 💃

"What's the difference!?" I hear you shout. There's a HUGE difference. A set of broad rules within which pupils are occasionally 'let off' compromises clarity & consistency. A framework of expectations anticipating flux sends a clear message in a dynamic environment!

It's all about the pledges we make to the young people around us. Statements of intent are perceived as promises and therefore we must always be clear about what we expect and what we can offer. This foundation empowers ambition💃

Thanks @Scholastic - all this bought with rewards from our book fair in December. At least 75% of this is a result of empowering disadvantaged pupils to choose their own books. Now we have more new & relevant books in our library. What's the opposite of a vicious cycle?

A lot of what I'd call 'powder pink' in publishing at the moment. Not complaining. Love it. Keep it up. Funny how colours trend though...

Happy #BlueMonday everyone! Honestly, I'm not feeling too bad. I made a really good dinner last night so I can have tasty leftovers waiting for me in the staff room (after I get through this mountain of book returns!)💃 Watcha reading, folks?

Today is a good day. First task this morning (let's be honest, it's the ninth task this morning...) is to deliver these free books, furnished with book marks designed by pupils. Awesome. #schoollibrarian #librarian #readingforpleasure
