Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours. Fort buildings are closed today, but you are welcome to come up and walk off Thanksgiving dinner.

#FortScottNPS will be conducting a prescribed fire today just after noon. As of this morning we are in prescription and will make the final decision around noon.
It’s a blustery 12° out, with a -3° windchill. If you must go out, please stay safe. The park is open and ready for you to explore the winter wonderland.

#FortScottNPS is canceling this Saturday's bird walk because of forecasted single digit temperatures and -20 plus wind chills. If you would like to participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count at the fort or elseware, go to birdcount.org to learn more.

Today and tomorrow, the upstairs of the Dragoon Barracks will be closed for artifact and display cleaning.
#FortScottNPS is open today, though some of the buildings will be closed. Have fun but be safe in the snow.

During the federal government shutdown, we will not monitor or update social media. Fort Scott grounds will remain open. All buildings will be closed, there will be no visitor services, and hazardous conditions may exist. Call 911 for emergencies.
