Great work by @GerHerbert1 in encouraging people to experience the benefits of e-bikes. “The experiment did confirm what research has long suggested: a surprising number of the journeys we automatically make by car, turn out to be faster, calmer and more connected by bike.”

I live in a small street. Mostly Irish. We have Chinese, Polish, English, Indian, and African neighbours. Never any bother. As it should be.

Tonight our community came together to take a stand against racism. We took a stand for compassion, solidarity and support shown to those affected. Together, we stand against hatred and division in all its forms. We know this lesson from our own history!

Over recent days political reps have stood w masked men, spoken of bloodbaths, & spent most of today stoking tension… tonight we see family homes burnt & ordinary people fearful. How does this help the victim of last night’s horrific attack? It only fuels division, hate, & fear.

Northern Ireland was dubbed the "UK's most dangerous place to be a woman" just two months ago. 30 women have been violently killed since 2020. An Irish man murdered his pregnant girlfriend and left her facedown in a dog bowl as a final humiliation Where were the rioters then?

Just home from dealing with the consequences of tonight's lawlessness. Perhaps some of the English right wing influencers and local politicians enthusing about these protests would explain to children I met why they have no beds to sleep in tonight. Utterly disgusted.

Well said John
There is understandable disgust & revulsion at the horrific attempted murder that took place last night. I share that revulsion. But the scenes we are witnessing tonight, family homes attacked, cars burnt, damaged infrastructure & parts of our community in flames, are shameful & disgraceful. No one has the right to spread fear, terrorise innocent families or unleash lawless disorder on our streets. I spent today on the ground in north Belfast, & the message from local residents was clear: the focus must remain on supporting the victim, standing with his family & ensuring the perpetrator is brought to justice. The actions of those who are destroying their own communities are totally unacceptable. It is clear that the horrendous attack last night is being used to whip up fear, division & hatred. That must be called out.

This is not a protest. It’s a Far Right Pogrom in Working Class East Belfast against innocent people who work in our schools and hospitals. The animals responsible for this are just as bad as that evil bastard who attacked the man with a Knife last night. Scumbags, all.

Data centre electricity demand is projected to exceed the entire power consumption of the state. Already, data centres are adding an estimated €1.6 billion to Irish households’ electricity bills, while paying around half the rate charged to ordinary consumers.

It's unsustainable. Ireland needs an immediate moratorium on new data centres and a plan to put people, communities, and climate before corporate profits.
