Check out our summer outcome with a focus on film and fairy tales. We chose ‘The 3 little pigs’ as our core text and used the story to discuss and describe the role of a villain. For our artwork we used construction techniques to build each house.

As we begin to innovate the middle part of the 3 little pigs story. We explored different materials that we could use to adapt our story. Ava said “The suger cubes are hard they would make a strong house”. Aris said “The feathers are weak. The wolf could blow them away”.

This week we have been looking at ‘wanted posters’. The children been looked at words to describe the wolf. They used these words to create a descriptive sentence they could add to their own poster. @foxfield @IPAT_Edu

We have explored weight. We made predictions on what objects would weigh the heaviest and the lightest. We then used the scales to identify which objects were heavier and which were lighter. We found that the toy tiger was the lightest and that brick was the heaviest.

After the thunderstorm we had lots of snails visit our playground. The children collected some and gave them leaves to feel comfortable. Louie said “Snails like rain because they like a little bit of water” I know snails like crawling out in the night”. @foxfield @IPAT_Edu

This week in maths we are focusing on sharing, so we invited some story characters for a picnic. The children will have the opportunity to share between characters thinking about how that can divide the food equally making sure it is ‘fair’

The beginning of our summer term is here. Our topic is ‘Once upon a time…’ we began today looking at the story of Goldilocks and the children have already enjoyed the activities prepared. Today the children painted Goldilocks and were able to describe what she looked like.

We have been role playing bees making honey. We collected nectar and pollen from different flowers to take back to the hive.

Today we talked about how bees help with pollination. We experimented using glitter and watched how it was transferred from one flower to another. We also looked at where the pollen can be found on a real flower. Zaida said “I’m a bee, I moved the pollen to different flowers”

To celebrate our joy for reading on world book day, the reception teachers read a story to the other reception classes. It was great to share our stories and see the enjoyment of books across the year group @FoxfldWalnut @FoxfieldMaple

So today we celebrated world book day. The children were so excited to share their favourite characters and stories with their friends. From animals to princesses and heroes to villains…even the teachers got involved. #readingforpleasure

This term we’re learning about the importance of bees. This week the children are ‘buzzing’ with excitement engaging in their immersive environment. Labelling a bees body, using fine motor skills to move ‘pollen’ into the ‘hive’ and getting creative making their own bees.

We have finished this term by recapping our learning by looking at our new learning journey wall. The children have been fully engrossed in the their learning and thinking about the ways we can help our planet.

We have been retelling stories using story maps and story mountains to help us with the beginning, middle and end. Alizah wanted to retell the story of The hungry caterpillar using the story mountain that she made. She hopes you enjoy it.

Today we visited St Johns Church where we were greeted by Rev Timi. He talked about what the Church means and the things that might happen at a church. We explored the environment looking out for key objects from our list as Timi explained its importance. Thank you for having us

This week we have been learning about habitats. We talked a lot about forests and went on a looking and listening trek through our very own forest school. We also made a list of what should and shouldn’t have been in our forest school habitat @foxfield @ScienceFoxfield

First day back and we’re already excited. A few animals have left some footprints in our classroom. The children enjoyed exploring and discussing what animals may have left the prints and why we thought that. @foxfield

Today the children enjoyed tasting a variety of dishes from different cultures, whilst discussing what they liked and disliked. Dexter said “I liked it (quiche) ‘coz it was well creamy”. Aris said “My favourite was the pasta (spaghetti bolognaise) because I can suck it up”.
