This is precisely the problem of the British disease of changing PMs all the time: everyone else changes. No one learns What organisation could succeed if the boss & every head of dept is routinely purged? Mahmood is proving the most effective Home Sec for years. Why move her?
🚨EXC: Senior Burnham advisers are lobbying Shabana Mahmood to be his chancellor – Efforts accelerated in recent days amid concern about Ed Miliband entering No11 – BUT Mahmood has told them them she still doesn't want it – she is determined to remain home secretary and see her immigration reforms through

The making of HBO’s iconic 1982 intro and the final result is still mind-blowing. A reminder of how much creativity and craftsmanship went into pre-digital visual effects.

It was terrible Mr Vice President what happened. And lessons will be learned. But here’s a thought - maybe concentrate instead on why 44000 Americans died last year from gun related deaths, and what can be done about your dreadful disease before you start lecturing others
Henry Nowak died the same way a civilization dies: abandoned, handcuffed by authorities who neither trusted nor cared for him, and accused of hate crimes he did not commit. His murder is as tragic as it is enraging. He should still be alive today, and he would be if the last few generations of European elites had stood their ground against the politics of self-hatred and the mass invasion of migrants, many of whom despise the West and the people who love it. Henry was far from the first to so needlessly lose his life, and I fear he won’t be the last. Each time a life like his is lost, the proper response—the only response—is righteous anger. One of the most important things the Trump administration has proven to the world is that stopping the flow of mass migration and defending national sovereignty is a matter of political will and leadership. Anything else is an excuse. It is because we love the West that we want to preserve it. We love our civilization. We love our country. We love our children. And nobody—nobody—should ever die the way that Henry Nowak died. May God comfort those who loved him, and may God rest his soul.

🚨 NEW: Latest stats show we’re over 70% of the way to our target to recruit 6,500 teachers in the places they’re needed most. We have 4,654 more teachers in those schools and colleges compared to 2024.
Community note
The latest government data shows that there are now 1,900 fewer teachers than when Labour came into office. This includes a decrease in nursery, primary and seconday school teachers. …e-education-statistics.service.gov.uk/find-statistic…

My God… Please see this man for what he is.
When Metropolitan Police officer Wayne Couzens kidnapped and murdered Sarah Everard, Nigel Farage released a five-minute video urging people not to attack men or the police. Today, in response to the murder of Henry Nowak, he called for "pure cold rage."

Fortunately, Britain has a Bermuda-registered mass circulation newspaper owned by a French-domiciled billionaire, a television station owned by a Dubai hedge fund and a political party backed by a Thailand-based crypto tycoon to remind us of the importance of patriotism

Condolences to all the Milibands. Marion’s life from child refugee onwards was part of my conversation with @DMiliband in January. Thinking again about her fortitude, and the long journey to finally finding out what happened to her father youtu.be/m5wcN8ZqEN8

Wise words @TomBaldwin66
“Journalists need to take some responsibility and have a good look at themselves about the way they behaved in the last few weeks.” The UK media has contributed to the country’s “addiction” to “booting out” unpopular PMs that is making “stable long term government” impossible, says Keir Starmer’s biographer Tom Baldwin.

Starmer is made to resign, the bond markets react & force up the cost of borrowing, within a few weeks a financial tsunami as a result of Trump's Iran war slams into us. Then what? Seriously? The depth of self-absorbed stupidity on display today has been breathtaking. #c4news

If Starmer is forced out, he’ll be the fifth PM in a row to last less than a full term. There are some structural issues making the job near impossible. Changing the name above the door won’t fix it.

The asylum backlog has also more than halved. Odd that such progress is barely mentioned by Labour.
