BTC maxis were celebrating a couple non full blocks last night. Currently there's a 7 block backlog totaling about 14mb and growing. There are still no easily accessible tools for minting and selling these. They will be wishing they could return to these congestion levels soon.

Don't worry guys, the 4mb tx is gone. It's all over now.
seems like it's mostly flamed out. a 4MB test transaction has some stress testing utility. i don't think anything crashed this time? layer2 handling, bitcoin libraries, alternative nodes, block explorers things are getting more robust!

And finally: I describe how Taproot accidentally blew up the old transaction size limit in OP_RETURN, essentially allowing limitless data storage on bitcoin (as long as the transaction fits in a block). This is the basis for a new NFT protocol on bitcoin, called "Ordinals."
