Even nuclear needs to be coupled with storage…
15 Mar 2025
Stating what should be obvious: Without a large and growing electricity/energy storage infrastructure, it is impossible for nuclear plants to maintain high capacity factors once their installed capacity significantly exceeds the low points on the grid demand curves. They might be capable of running more, but if there is insufficient demand they will have to curtail their output if they can't store it. If you want to ONLY build large, always on nuclear plants, you are resigned to a modest market share for nuclear energy.

The Coalition’s proposed nuclear agenda would be disastrous for power bills, existing and future rooftop solar and for renewable energy investment.

High temperature industrial process heat is often described as 'hard-to-abate'. But electrification technologies can cover very wide temperature ranges now as this graph by @FraunhoferISI shows nicely.

Daarmee gooien we onze koploperspositie weer weg." ⚡️⚡️⚡️ #alwaysbecharging #netherlands #BEV #taxes

A big thanks to everybody for showing support for clean energy. The majority of Australians support a renewable energy future for our country, and we’ll keep working hard to ensure regional communities are properly informed and engaged at every step. abc.net.au/news/2024-02-04/r…
