ALT Campfire Safety. Pick a good spot
Use a fire pit if available. If not, choose a spot at least 15 ft away from tents, trees, or other flammable objects. Choose an open & level location away from fuels. Take wind speed & direction into consideration
Have a source of water, a bucket, & a shovel nearby.
Maintain & Extinguish
Don't burn dangerous things like aerosol cans or glass.
Keep fire at a manageable size & always watch children around fire.
Allow the wood to burn completely to ash if possible. Drown ALL embers & pour until hissing sound stops.
If it's too hot to touch, it's too hot to leave!
