As a person in the room while this was being discussed, not sure how “new revenue” equates to “new taxes”. I’m very opposed to raising taxes. Great idea, let’s cut city spending! Better yet, let’s cut the huge, unnecessary IndyGo budget and take 50 million from that! Very simple!
I'm on record saying Indianapolis should play ball and raise taxes. The legislature has demanded it. This new storyline that, actually, Indianapolis can just cut spending instead of raising taxes is face-saving messaging to cover for Republican-imposed tax increases on the city.
