Fantastic initiative
Take a look at ACU’s Kindness Wall - staff can put up kind messages and uplifting words to share with their colleagues. A kind work goes a long way! 😊 #acu #nmgh

This is a must read. The ritualistic use of PDSA in the NHS undermines the complexity and adaptive nature of the systems we work in. There are so many more effective tools out there #safetyII @sistertopcat #weFRAM journals.lww.com/journalpati…

Some great suggestions so far. Keep them coming and we will do a poll next week and let you decide. #denturecarematters
We are trying to find a β€˜bed side’ symbol to use to identity patients that wear dentures. We hope it helps to reduce denture loss.We used to use a 🌻 but need to find an alternative that preserves patient dignity but could be used nationally like the πŸ¦‹ or 🌼. Any suggestions?

This week we focused on #mouthcarematters. There are certain groups of patients that will be more at risk of developing mouth related problems due to either one or a combination of medical, cognitive or physical disabilities. Mouth care is important for nutrition and hydration

#backtobasics nutrition and hydration - importance of assessment and early referral to SaLT / Dietician where required. MUST assessment and support makes a difference to outcomes
This week our focus was getting back to basics with pressure ulcer prevention, importance of risk assessment and monitoring particularly when a patient is on a cast. Considering changing skin colour, swelling, pain and sensation
This week we shared the HSIB report highlighting Lens Story who took an unintentional OD of morphine, resulting in his death. For acute Trusts this reminds us of the importance of ensuring patients are fully informed of medications and they understand how and when to take them.
